Many people want to set gemstones as low as possible in a ring. The lowest style of setting for this is the bezel setting. Diamonds and gemstones which are smaller than 2.25mm can be gypsy set into the band. Larger gems are required to have a setting to hold them. A faceted gemstone must be set so that the culet (bottom point underneath) is not touching the finger otherwise it will scratch the finger. Mr.Bellchamber can set stones 0.5 higher than your finger so that it is as low as possible. The rule of thumb when designing is that the smallest diameter face of up a stone is 3/4 of its height.
