Wren of Cork Pendant

Wren of Cork Pendant

Dec 7, 2019 | Animals & Mythology, Birds, Spirals

The little wren in Irish Celtic folklore was the King of the Birds and symbolized the old year at New Years. The Wren is also a symbol of wit and wisdom. Other stories name the wren as the Queen of Fairies.  It is based on the early artifact in the Museum of Cork. The Wren of Cork pendant is a modern Bellchamber version of the Garryduff gold bird. Ours is 3.5 x 2.7cm. The matching earring set we handmake are at this link.

The original artifact found near Garryduff Cork Ireland. It is on display at the Cork Museum.
