Luckenbooth Pendant in Gold
Luckenbooth Heart

The Luckenbooth is an 18th-20th century Scottish Love charm. Antique versions utilize one or two hearts intertwined and capped with a crown. Scots and Highlanders could be a superstitious lot and a Luckenbooth was given as a token of love and protection. Usually made of Sterling Silver, wealthy patrons would have one made in gold. The above photo is a solid yellow gold version handmade by Bellchamber Goldsmiths. A 2.5mm blue/white diamond is set in the crown and is over an inch tall (22mm x 29mm).
