Memento Mori Skull Ring

Our Client wanted us to design a Memento Mori ring with skulls. The would alternate different profiles around the ring. Rubies were to be set into the eyes when if each was facing up. Pictured here is the yellow gold skull ring in 10K with diamond cut rubies repeating on it. The Skull represents the seat of the soul in many cultures, especially in Mexico and Central America. It was very common on grave markers before the 20th century when mortality rates where much higher. The Latin phrase ‘Memento Mori’ means ‘Rememember Death’. The skull is used as a symbol of loved ones who are gone as well as to remind us of our own mortality.
